bohren und der club of gore: mitleid lady (latitudes / southern)
been waiting a fucking age (well a year and a bit…) for this and i’ve fiiiinally got hold of it and eveeeentually got round to listening to it. all ten minutes and single solitary track of it. fair enough, shit and shine did the one track thang as well but it was a huge tribal beast and there were forty odd minutes of it thumping and glowering at me.
hooom….
so just as well for you southern people this is another peachy keen bohren track. recorded after geisterfaust and before dolores, it inhabits both those worlds with the usual lynchian badalamentian swell and swoon.
is it doom? is it jazz? is it the solemn somber sumptuous sound of laura palmers undoing represented by some lounge noir thrum? christ knows. but it’s gossamer soft and heavy as hell. all smoky liquid 3am whisky vibe and slo-motion red velvet curtain lithium swish.
if they were any less hurried they’d be going backwards. in fact they make earth sound like slayer. and interestingly there’s a nu-earth style tremble and twang about this little lady.
the usual latitudes limited edition in mindandfingerbending origami card case. this shit comes second only to tartaruga (more here from them soon…) in the fancy-dan packaging contest.
ace. but too damned short.
