monotonix: supersonic preview part three

in terms of sheer mad bastard entertainment yr unlikely to find much better than monotonix.

somehow managing to combine the mental spectacle of backyard wrestling pandemonium with the distorto rawk of the mc5 or the sonics or zeppelin or the stooges. 

they do the lightning bolt thing of setting up and playing in the audience. except nobody from lightning bolt climbs atop every available scaleable surface, sets fire to whatever’s at hand, crowd surfs atop a drum (whilst playing, no less, dear readers) and generally involves those (un?)lucky folks within beergrabbing distance (see video below of man cellotaped to singer) in the electric mayhem that is the monotonix live show.  count yrself a survivor if you make it through the madness.

like a satanic fugazi.  like a devilishly hairier unwound.  there’s no barriers.  no distance.  no control.  get involved.  embrace chaos.  love monotonix.
