goblin: supersonic preview part one
good news, everyone. as professor hubert j. farnsworth might say. goblin confirmed for supersonic. so what better way to kick off my supersonic preview series than blathering on for a bit about those mad italian prog bastards.
one of my first movie loves (lusts?) was romero’s dawn of the dead. not only did it introduce me to the work of george a. – easily one of cinema’s unsung greats and zombies aside you should certainly dig out martin on dvd – but also to dario argento and the music of goblin.
boiled down goblin are progressive rock by way of soundtracks. or vice versa. most celebrated for their work on argento’s profondo rosso and suspiria, combining the symphonic, the bizarro, the jazz, the experi(mental) with fucked electronics and weirdy beardy psyche-outs and all that creepy vocal shit. pretty much a marriage made in heaven (hell?) for argentos skewed visuals and nervy tension. siiiiighhh.
anyway certainly been an influence in some way on guapo: iv. and since sampled by justice: phantom pt. ii. but here’s the real freaky deal below:
fingers crossed they don’t all have hissy fits and petted lips before july…
